Our Founding

Our Story

When I decided to take a gap year before my freshman year in college in the middle of Covid 19, I was immediately bombarded with requests for tutoring. I was excited to get some experience (and make money) but as a future education major with a focus on educational equity, I knew that students from lower-income families were going to miss out on the opportunities that more privileged students could easily access.

I set out to find a solution where:

  • All families can easily find an affordable, young, local, and qualified tutor for their child

  • Young adults throughout Marin can use their skills to teach younger students in the community and make some money

  • Students who are unable to pay can still receive the help they deserve

Marin Matches was the result of this vision. This program was founded upon the principle that “We’re All In This Together”. By coming together as students, tutors, and community members, we can support one another.

Founder

Kylie Frame is a recent Tam grad, and not-so-recent Mill Valley Middle School and Old Mill School grad. During her time at Tam, she worked as a mentor and tutor to younger students through the Link Crew and AVID program, she ran the community outreach portion of the leadership program, she was captain of the Varsity Lacrosse team, and she founded Feed The Frontlines Marin in the spring of her senior year. Following a gap year, Kylie will be studying education at The Peabody School of Education at Vanderbilt University. Kylie’s passion for working towards education equity has led her to founding Marin Matches in hopes that she can bring the community together and make a difference in creating equal opportunity for students across Marin.
